March 4 -- Safe Food Canada 2010 features Deloitte paper on holistic approach to food safety

January 22, 2010

Globalization, consumer awareness, media scrutiny and regulatory changes have turned up the heat on food safety issues. At the Safe Food Canada 2010 symposium on March 4, presenters will discuss these pressures and offer insight on how the industry can best respond.

One of the speakers will be Stephen Brown of Deloitte. Mr. Brown will present Safe to Move, a new report that examines the issue of food safety and provides a comprehensive approach to help companies achieve their business objectives and manage food safety risks. Mr. Brown’s presentation will examine the following steps:

  1. Assessing your company’s capabilities for preventing and responding to food safety threats
  2. Building the governance, skills, processes and systems to improve those food safety capabilities
  3. Monitoring risks and trends on a regular basis, adjusting the food safety program to address significant changes in an ever changing

In addition to Mr. Brown’s Safe to Move presentation, Safe Food Canada 2010 will offer companies a better understanding  of the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI), farm-to-fork traceability as well as tips for improving recall performance.
